For three decades, Professor Jason Pandya-Wood (Jason Wood) has worked, volunteered, taught and researched in the field of social policy, and has campaigned on a wide range of social justice issues. He is a trained youth worker and community organiser, spent a bit of time dabbling in politics, and has written extensively on work with young people and communities.
Jason joined Western Sydney University as Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Professor of Social Policy in July 2025. He leads a diverse school, and teaches and researches in politics and social policy. He lives and works on unceded lands and acknowledges and pays respect to the Darug, Dharawal, Gadigal, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri peoples and thanks them for their support of his work.
Prior to moving to Australia, Jason worked at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, Nottingham Trent University (UK) and De Montfort University (UK).
In his spare time, Jason pursues several activities with his family to offset his love of food including running in races, cycling for fun and losing sparring matches against kids at Taekwondo.
